Is it fair to say that Western culture doesn't care or provide for the elderly as much as Eastern cultures do?

I am told quite often that Western countries don't respect and care for their elders as much as their Eastern counterparts do. I don't know any Eastern countries who provide state pensions(SS), welfare, subsidised or free housing, senior discounts, health care, transport etc all paid for by taxpayers money. Keep in mind that Western societies have to support three times the elderly population as Eastern cultures do. Maybe Eastern societies provide more emotional care and support for the elderly but when the elderly have built a nation based on monetary value how can you blame us when we support you financially? What are your thoughts on this?

I will just let you know that i have memories from being 2 years old and if i was feeding and remember that, it would be a bit traumatic. Walk to the grocery store or post office, or anywhere in reasonable walking distance, instead of driving. Park farther away wherever you shop or work. This works WONDERS because its something you do every day, not just 3 times a week! Read a book.... not a diet book, a health food book. You can talk to your doctor, but because they are so focused on you losing the weight they may want to put you on a restrictive diet right away, and as you saw it doesn't last. I believe that it is most important to do it yourself (with support) and listen to your body! because a nutritionist or a doctor doesn't know what it's like to be you! Trust me, put the focus on eating healthy and living instead of losing weight and you will notice a huge difference in weight AND energy!!! Good luck!

Should we cancel building our home?

We are building a house. The builder is doing the constr loan, initially, because of the control and making decisions, we were going to do it, but there was a bigger percentage of $ that we needed to put wth the loan. We opted to go with the builder we were going to use as a consultant to build us a home. He was supposed to kick our garage out 4 ft wide and 4 ft long. It was also supposed to be on slab but is on crawl space now. I know this was done to save him money, but its cool, we don't mid that part. Help! My newborn will only sleep if swaddled!?

I have a 8 week old baby, She has colic. At first she would only sleep in a bouncer, then she would sleep just fine in her binette, the back to her bouncer, now she loves to be swaddled. She is colicy. She will sleep for 6 hours at night if swaddled, either in her bouncer or binete. Now, i dont have a problem with swaddling her, but im worried about SIDS and what I always hear or am told " no blankets" When I swaddle her she is so tight she can not get her arms out at all, not tight where she can't breath, but she just loves it, she instantly starts cooing and calms down when I do it. Is it really that bad If i let her sleep bundled up, i wake up every hour to check her, im worried, i dont want to put her in her crib becuase of that. Has anyone else done this? I have the Wii fit which i do the free run for 30 min and the rhythm boxing for 10 min 5 days per week. I try to watch my calorie intake every day too. The body expects between 1000 and 1400 calories every day and the rest is stored as fat. 2000 calories per day is a good target. You CAN eat some of the things that you love like a few chips sparingly, as long as you don't binge on them. Try to keep yourself motivated while exercising by listening to some upbeat music on the computer or on an ipod. Don't worry, it's not as bad as it seems. 1992 Nissan Maxima GXE SOHC Crankshaft Pulley is Wobbling?

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Crankshaft Pulley sit on a sleeve? Would the sleeve be bad, & therefore allowing the Crankshaft Pulley to wobble? Also, the rubber "membrane" or Harmonic Balancer rubber piece leaked oil, black oil, bot like my engine oil, it has stopped. Would I need to replace the sleeve & the rubber piece then? I am unsure what to do. I know that the wobble is my biggest concern, but since I will be in there, would I be able to find just the rubber part of the balancer, or do I have to buy a whole new embly?

The reason you feel full is because you can't fit anymore. Sure you can ignore the "I'm full" feeling, but your going to vomit all over if you do. There is no way to stuff the food down, it won't go. The 2nd part is the BYP. This is where a section of your small intestine is byped. This is the part that people who think that television programs make them experts don't know about. So what that does is makes it impossible for your body to absorb all of the fat and calories in the food you eat because it is not in the small intestine long enough. These things are not absorbed in the large intestine. Problem is neither is some of the essential vitamins and nutrients. So a byp patient will be expected to take a series of vitamins the rest of their lives. These are the facts: Only 5% of people will maintain a minimum of 1/2 of the weight they have lost after 5 years with diet and excersice. 80% of people who have weight loss surgery will have amintained at least 1/2 of their weight loss after 5 years. That's the proof. Gastric byp is for people with approximatly 100 or more pounds to lose. People are fat for many different reasons. Probably 90% of the time if you have trouble with an automatic its because you got it too hot. Trying to pull too much weight, trying to climb too steep of a hill, or being in too high of a gear will make the transmission get too hot. Its important to keep it out of overdrive when your pulling any amount of weight. Some are just more prone to problems than other because of a bad design. I have heard that some will lose the overdrive clutch packs and in some the drive bands will snap.

How should i prepare for my first tournament?

Take it easy. Do some putting or light hitting on the range for the next few days. But don't worry about your game or swing, just trust it. Your not playing the other golfers, your playing the course. So don't worry about how they are doing. Just go out play your game and play the course. When I played in tournaments I used to close my eyes while other guys where hitting, or I would only think about the layout of the hole I was on. The biggest thing is staying calm and relaxed. How to take back control?

I have a 12 year old son who seems very domineering and controlling and I feel it was because I treated him as an equal since he was little. Letting him make decisions and not wanting to discipline him harshly. I was treated really poorly as a child and I did not want that for him. So I think I went overboard the other way, not enough discipline. How can I fix this and get back on track? Please has anyone else had this problem? He is not domineering or controlling in a bad way and he is in no way disrespectful, he just demands full attention and he tries to push his way into adult conversations.

I live in AZ and I am having a horrible time trying to figure out how to get into ultrasound. I looked up the schools that are accredited through CAAHEP, which was recomended by others online, and only found one school offering the program. Once looking further into that school I found that you must first be credentialed in Medical Radiography (ARRT), Nursing (RN), Nuclear Medicine (CNMT), Respiratory Therapist (RTT), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Technologist (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)!!!! I don't know if there is an easier way to go about this that won't take me a million years to get into my carreer. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

go to expedia.com they ask if you want to book a cruise as well as airfair..i am not sure they will include the transportation from the port to the airport and back and forth... you will have to make numbers since you have to pay for airfair to make it to fort lauderdale or miami and add the cost of airfair, might be cheaper to just fly to orlando florida and stay in the parks... also, staying at a nice hotel would be nice but remember you will spend all day at the park so just look for something small and cheap to sleep and take a shower.... most hotels do have transportation from the hotel to the parks so at least you dont have to pay for that

Why am i bleeding during ?

I was waiting for a traffic light to change when a drunk driver plowed into my rear bumper, basically destroying both cars . I emerged without damage and provided first aid to the bleeding drunk. Someone must have called 911 because an ambulance arrived along with the police; I politely told the EMT's that I did not want any evaluation, treatment or transport. The economy has left me without health insurance despite a good job; I don't want to incur and medical expenses that I don't feel that I absolutely need (I understand that in an ideal world that everyone involved in a MVA would get checked out for hidden injuries, but it's my gamble to skip it). The EMT kept getting in my face and she was basically trying to force me into the ambulance despite my refusal. I told her that I was alert and oriented, a competent adult and that I'm refusing any and all evaluation, treatment or transport. She told me that I didn't have any choice and told me that if I didn't get in the ambulance that she would have the police officer convince me, all the while trying to push me into the ambulance. At wit's end, I called the cop over and asked her to explain to the EMT my right to refuse treatment..at which point I had 2 women trying to push me into the ambulance. Finally, the cop agreed that in this state (PA), a competent adult has a right to refuse treatment, but that I was being stupid (my choice) and that someone covered in blood should definately go to the hospital. Then one of the medics told the cop: "it's not his blood; he was treating the drunk who hit him from behind and probably prevented the guy from bleeding out". Big deal, I said, just please let me alone, I have a ight to refuse and didn't break any laws. Then the weird part: the cop agrees that I have a right to refuse, compliments me on isting the other driver, then she tells me that I'm going to the hospital regardless and called me a hero (not)...the other driver died, so my help didn't matter....despite my protests, they transported me anyway. En route to the hospital, I called the local police to meet me at the emergency room because I was being held against my will. Upon arrial at the hospital, the cops that I called got into an argument with the EMT's..I asked the police to either arrest me or to make the EMT's let me go. Finally, the EMT's told me that they would let me go if I signed a refusal of treatment and transport form which I declined to sign; I told them that you have already treated and transported me against my will so why should I sign a refusal of the same services? I told them that I'm not paying for anything; I didn't call them nor did I consent to anything. The EMT's got quite angry, but the cops at the ER affirmed my right to refuse and that I didn't have to sign anything, so everyone finally went to neutral corners. This was last night; it was an abuse of authority. Is there any way that I have to pay for any of this?
