Is it dangerous to add an enzyme inhibitor or enzyme inducer to the regimen of a patient on a toxic drug?

Both actually but if you have to choose one or the other, an enzyme inhibitor is inherently more dangerous than an inducer. Adding an enzyme inhibiting drug will cause the toxic drug to not be metabolized thereby allowing its toxic effects to manifest themselves for a longer period of time.
