What is the difference between an autobiography and a memoir?

An autobiography is a firsthand account of a person's life, written deliberately to depict the author's life. Whereas a memoir is more of a collection of moments in a person's life, like a written montage, depicting only certain events in ones life to convey a specific theme/message.
