Is a job now a priviledge you are given rather than a contribution you are making?

I have never been an employer, but as an employee, I know that I participate in the market by selling my service to my employer. If my employer isn't getting enough work out of me for the money I am compensated, I can be fired. Similarly, if I don't feel I am getting enough compensation for my work, I can quit. The only right involved is the right to choose employers and employees, based on value for dollar. When that right is taken, we all lose.
