I am originally from Burlington, VT & planning to move to California. Can anyone suggest an similar area?

I miss the mountains, lake, friendly people & fun local bars, restaurants & shops. I am looking for a pleasant climate year round (for the most part:) & an area with same atmosphere as Burlington & VT but with a larger population. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Video Problems In Vista?

ok i just upgraded to vista from xp, and i just tried to watch a movie i downloaded using WMP using the k-light audio & video codec pack, and this yellow bar flickers in the middle of the video, it does that with all my movies, the colors very every now and then, and then on some movies it doesn't have a bar, instead its across the bottom - heres a pic i took showing you what im talking about - http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/5958/15444726.jpg

Every time my parents even talk to me I feel like I am going to scream. They make me so upset. Just moments ago they SCREAMED at me because I didn't study for my Spanish exam tomorrow. Mom stated that I would not be allowed to live in this house if I don't graduate and that I should get used to being so alone because that's where i'm headed. I felt like looking up ways to kill myself that are fast and efficent. I hate this. Is it best to call Suicide Hotline?
